What did the plugs look like?
I think that chalky white shit is e85
E85 does no such thing. My pistons look brand new.
i'll take pics once I get home, iirc they looked good.
Your car didn't sit down for a while

beside the cam fucking up. Is it possible that the head is cracked in a few places? It looks fixable but have you thought about getting it x-ray'd? My little brother had his 1.6 miata smoking bad and burning coolant(yes I know this part is not relevant) and it sat for awhile. When I pulled it apart it had that same shit all over the domes and pistons. Took the head to the shop to get rebuilt. He scanned it and it was full of cracks. He fixed it all up and rebuilt it for $400 plus parts.
Not saying thats what caused the cam to break. But could explain that shit in the cylinders. Calcium/iron+ coolant slowly dripping down.
just a theory...
yea for sure. I picked up the valve spring tool today. I will get it pulled apart tommorrow and then send it off to be checked out. I doubt the head is cracked, but it will be checked none the less.
Gimme those cams, I wanna crack check them.
done. You cummin on sunday?
Let me crack check your ass...think I left some coke there
I don't see any pictures of a on the assembled head
The cauliflower looking deposits kind of look like high sulfur oil deposits. I've never seen them in a combustion chamber, but I have seen it in turbo hot sides.
Mobil1 is notorious for this. It has a very high sulfur content. Could it be valve guides?
Im not bashing mobil1, its all I use.
I would assume it would smell like sulfer if so? The valve guides will get replaced with the valves, so if that was the case, that would be solved.
I left some semen in yours.
This guy has been in mentioned ass crack before.
well made some more progress. Damon took my cam's into work to magnaflux and check for cracks. Found one small spider looking crack on the intake cam in the front journal area, said its fairly common with castings. The exhaust cam that broke seems to have broke clean without spidering, as well as no visible cracks down the rest of the shaft. I'm not sure where that leaves me as far as answers, but something must have failed to cause it. I then this week pulled the rest of the head apart. There were 3 intake valves that were kinda stuck coming out of the guides, but not visably bent. The only 2 exhaust valves that had any issues coming out were the obvious bent ones. With that being said, who has a awesome machine shop they would trust to send this head and parts off for inspection and cleaning? I have not dealt with any shops around here that I would trust with this particular job.
