yeah, same one.

i finished the wiring, brake pedal, and kick stand. I started on the exhaust and the way i had planed to route the center two cylinders to help give the wheel clearance is not going to work so the good news is the exhaust is done......the bad news is now i need to rake out the front end a few degrees to give me some room. Hope to have that done by the 8th......this is going to test my welding skillz

I added 3-4 degrees of rake and moved the head tube forward about 1.25". This up coming weekend i am taking a trip to "tail of the dragon" with some buddies. I'm going to borrow my uncle's honda sabre 700 for the weekend. Depending on when i get back sunday i may try to rebuild my forks. I found a 41 tooth rear sprocket so i will be able to get close to the stock sprocket ratio of the kz. I know i have said that i will try to start it but, i want to wait so when it does start i can ride it down the street at least. So i need to get part of the head welded so i can drill and tap a new hole for the exhaust stud that got broke off. Here are a few pics i snapped during this past weekend.

^pic of a couple of the pipes bolted up (pre-raking the front end)

^stock head tube

^took a little bit of time with the cutting wheel

^mocked up checking the rake angel

^little paint

Here are a few pics from my trip to "tail of the dragon" i took over the weekend. I rode a 1985 Honda Sabre 700........i couldn't keep up with my buddies that were all on 06' and new crouch rockets. Even so, i still had a great time riding. Any one who rides needs to make it there at least once. Stay humble though and leave your ego at the base of the mountain......some guy was killed Saturday on the mountain.

^tree of shame....bike parts from wrecks

P.S.
I plan on rebuilding the forks this weekend on the SM project.

When i have a bike of my own (finished) i'll spend some money on gear but, since i was just riding for the weekend i didn't opt for a jacket. Plus i'd look real funny with a riding jacket (alpine or Icon) on when on that bike.

Pretty cool bike. Looks good for what it is imo. It sat for 3 years until thursday when my uncle started it to see if it would even run. I put 20 miles on it and changed the oil before we loaded it up and headed for the dragon. I think it needs the valves adjusted since it didn't like to start very easily when warm. Other than that the bike was great. Bike is up for sale.....pm me if your interested.

Getting closer and closer.....I need to repair where the exhaust stud threads into since it was damaged when the bike was dropped but, other than that its ready to be started.

To do list to ride:

Fix exhaust stud
Get pod filters
Jet kit
Sync carbs
Send gas tank to get finished

To do list for the street:

Head light
Tail light
Turn signals
Street tires
Insure
Plate

^ straight pipe exhaust

^just enough room for pod fitlers....need to pick up some wire loom also

Needs jets and the carbs need to be sync'ed.... #2 cylinder is not firing, i think the pilot might have gotten clogged again.

i'm still trying to get some drill bits for the jets. I got a set and needed them for the pilot jets but, that set only goes up to a #60 bit (99 jet size) and i need a main jet around 110 or so. Need to get the tank finished still (giving it to some one this week or next) and just keep playing with jet sizing. After that tires and lights and i'll be on the street. Dont know when she will get done but, defintally in time for a trip to the dragon mid summer.

New vid of me just putting around:

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Y...und_709116.htm

You can hear her cut out because of how lean my pilots were before i drilled them out. Went from a 32 stock to a 37 and she still seems a little lean so i think 39's will be on the money. With 37's my air screw is only 1/2 a turn out and stock it is 2-2.5 turns out.

I tried to post a while ago but it locked up. Might try IndyMoto in zionsville for jet drill, or there is a small engines shop like right down the street that would probably hook you up.

went out and got a few drill bits today so now i can bump my mains up to 112's (biggest bit) and i picked up a few pieces i needed to finish my sync tool. Once i get my bushing kit installed on my car (PITA) i'll probably put some time into the bike. I might pick up a second set of carbs and tune them in for e85 ......i wont be able to find the right needles but, i'll just over compensate with bigger jets like i am with gas.
